Accountability
A good part of the reason why I do things like the plank exercise challenge is to keep myself accountable to staying in good shape. My last attempt was the Pictou County Plank where my 5 minute goal was achieved. In order to stay motivated, I decided to raise the bar and attempt the 7.5 minute plank exercise challenge!
Good Scenery and Weather Help
When the opportunity presents itself, I actually prefer to workout outside. Hiking in the is one of the more enjoyable activities I like to do because it’s usually a combinati0n of good scenery and exercise. Running, biking, and swimming are other activities I enjoy doing outside as well, but today the plank exercise challenge took the cake. Workouts are a little more calming when you can hear waves in the background!
Plank Exercise Challenge is More Mental Than Physical
If the plank is something you do on a daily basis your body tends to get use to the position. Once your body gets use to the position it becomes more of a mental game to see how long you can hold that position. I broke the 7.5 minute plank exercise challenge into three two and a half minute sections. I started shaking pretty bad after five minutes, but knew I only had one third of the Challenge left.
Success - Next up Ten Minutes!
The last two and a half minutes of the plank exercise challenge were tough, but I had the goal of 7.5 minutes in my head and wasn’t going to accept anything less. The last minute was very difficult, I could feel it in my arms, my abs, everywhere! Sweat was starting to drip on the mat but the count down was on. Once I hit the final 15 seconds I knew I had it. Mission accomplished. Next up 10 minute plank, stay tuned!
