Sunset Over Mackinnons Point - Toney River Nova Scotia

Toney River Nova Scotia has to be one of the more beautiful locations to witness a sunset in the province. I’ve spent 40 summers here and the sight of the sun going down over MacKinnons Point never seems to get old. When the sun gets close to setting it’s not uncommon to locals come out from their homes or cottage to snap a shot or two of the beautiful sky.

Calm Evening in Toney River

The water is not always as calm as you see here. If there’s ever a wind coming from the north, the sand gets stirred up in the water and the waves are much more aggressive. Also, if you ever spend time here in the winter the Northumberland Strait freezes over and any kind of wind coming from the north is very very cold!

Beautiful Toney River Sky

Towards the end of the evening, after the sun has set, it may be the best time to get a shot of the sky. The colors change by the minute and it can be an absolutely stunning scene to watch unfold. If good scenery is something you enjoy, don’t hesitate to take a trip to Toney River Nova Scotia!
